You might be holding back from buying this due to the higher cost compared to gold 400 prices. So should you buy this or not? It comes down to what you plan on doing with it. If you are going to shoot rolling landscapes, aquariums and sunsets stick with Ektar 100. If you are going to capture PEOPLE then by all means go for it. The film is a little too milky for non-people shots. Just be aware of its limitations. I strongly recommend 160nc for portraits as 400 does show grain and will need to be edited out. If you plan on shooting indoors don't use anything smaller then f2.8. I used f4 w/ex. flash and was still around 1/5th shutter speed. If it wasn't for the amazing IS in my L lens my shots would've been even worse. If you are wondering about the outdoor pix lets just say between the L lens and portra 400nc you could literally count each strand of hair on someones head when looking at close up shots. Hope this helps you out. As a final note, portra nc is known as the wedding film.
